The Hopkins Student Wind Energy Team placed 1st in Project Development (Siting & Finance), 4th in Turbine Design (Aerodynamics, Generator, Electronics, and Structures), and 5th overall out of 50+ teams at the 2025 U.S. Department of Energy’s Collegiate Wind Competition in Boulder, Colorado!
This success was powered by the efforts of over 60 team members spanning engineering, environmental science, and business. From float stabilization and power electronics to connection creation and comprehensive project planning, every subteam brought critical expertise and dedication to the table.
We’re proud to stand alongside an inspiring field of competitors including BYU, Penn State, VT, Rice, Cal Poly, UT Dallas, Cal Maritime, Iowa State, Kansas State, UMass Lowell, MIT, and many others. Thank you all for contributing to such a dynamic and collaborative experience! We’d also like to thank the competition judges, staff, and everyone that put their all into making the CWC an educational experience!
